Hawkeye at Heart

“7. Better Yourself. Go running. Floss. Drink more water. Take vitamins. Buy food that does not come in a box. Do push-ups. Wake up at an AM hour. Do not sleep away your weekends. Stop Googling that spot on your arm. Read books. Learn an instrument. Think of others. Stop blaming other people. Stop blaming yourself. Turn your strengths against your weaknesses. Turn your hatred of every missed word or tarnished day into the next day. Do not merely need to do better; actually do better.”

The bride and groom did a wonderful job of adding creative pieces to their wedding day. For instance, check out this picture….they ordered HUGE, cardboard print outs of each of the bridesmaid’s and groomsmen’s faces. How clever, right? You can imagine our excitement when we returned to the trolley after taking outdoor photos, and these gems were on our seats waiting for us. It made the day even more fun and memorable. And yes, you better believe that they were all over the dance floor that night.

Disclaimer: I’m not sure why I must make that open-mouth, laughing face whenever I’m intoxicated. Therefore, it was quite fitting that this was the photo she chose for my extra large print out.

Wedding Weekend Recap:

One of my dearest, Brookie, got married this weekend. Wasn’t she absolutely STUNNING? I couldn’t get over how flawless and beautiful she looked. She truly is one of a kind, and it was clear how absolutely head-over-heels in love her and her handsome groom are.

Congratulations, Brooke and Zach. I was so completely honored and overjoyed to be a part of your special day.

Happy birthday to my favorite (and most adorable) four-year-old out there! Enjoy your day, Kaleb! You are so loved.

Happy 4th birthday, Kaleb!

Resurfacing

I’ve been a bit quiet lately (okay, really quiet) and it’s only because work has been ridiculously hectic with registration, orientation planning, etc. While I’ve been pretty much nonexistent  I have experienced a few triumphs in my life recently.

For one, I got a new JOB! Okay, well to clarify, it is technically the same job I am currently doing, but it is now a full-time, PERMANENT position. Basically, I’m higher up on the totem pole and at university that is a much better place to be in all aspects of the meaning. For one, I now have paid vacation and sick time, as well as an increase in salary (always welcomed). I still had to go through the entire search process and interview….(yes, being interviewed and having to present to your current co-workers is as awkward as it may seem). But, all in all, it’s fabulous and I’m very grateful for the experience.

My next triumph is more of a domestic triumph, but exciting non-the-less. We are currently re-doing our bathroom (trust me it was NEEDED…think of a house that was built in the 1960s with a carpeted bathroom and pink tile). Anyway, the husband and I are pretty much doing the whole process ourselves. Painting, putting up bead board, sanding and re-painting our vanity, etc. It’s extremely tedious and at times tiring, but definitely necessary and will be outstanding when it is finished.

I am sure to be more visible and active on my blog soon enough. I have thoroughly missed the writing and documenting. It’s good to be back.

I received the best piece of mail from Miss. Jaclyn last night. As some of you may know, she is getting married in July, and she asked me to be the reader at their wedding ceremony. Not only did she give me the honor of reading, but she also wrote me the sweetest, most sincere, hand-written note that I have received in a long time.
During a time of heartache and tragedy, it was very refreshing and uplifting to receive such a warmhearted and kind gesture.
It will truly be my honor and pleasure to be a part of her special day.
